(Lake Forest, Ill.) – Kyle Keranen scored 24 points and Ben Widdes added 12 to lead the Carroll University men's basketball team to a 61-48 victory over Lake Forest College in the Midwest Conference regular season finale.
The Pioneers improved to 19-4 overall, including a mark of 15-3 in the MWC. The 15 league victories are most in the program's MWC history.
Carroll led 28-22 at halftime and shot 60% from the field in the final 20 minutes to pull away even further.
Lake Forest opened the second half with a basket to cut CU's lead to four points (28-24) at 18:48 but the Pioneers responded with an 8-0 run for a 36-24 advantage at 16:43.
The hosts made one last run and cut their deficit to six points (49-43) at 7:57 but Carroll responded again, this time with a 10-0 run, to lead 59-43 with 1:22 to play.
Carroll, the No. 2 seed, and Lake Forest, the No. 4 seed will head to De Pere, Wis. on Friday for the Midwest Conference Tournament. Lake Forest plays regular season champion St. Norbert College while Carroll battles No. 3 seeded Ripon College at 1:30 p.m.
