(Lake Forest, Ill.) – The Carroll University softball team was eliminated from the Midwest Conference Tournament following a 13-4 loss to Lake Forest College.
The hosts jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and added five more in the fifth inning to pull away from the young Pioneers. The Foresters took advantage of a brisk wind blowing out to left field.
The Pioneers regrouped after the rough first inning and pulled to within 5-2 on a two-run Kelly Sykes home run in the third inning.
Lake Forest then added a run in each of the next three innings including one in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth. The game ended after the sixth inning due to the eight-run rule.
