Jake McCrystal (Stevens Point, Wis.) scored what proved to be the winning goal off an assist from sophomore forward
Shea Connell (Alfaz Del Pi, Spain) at the 25:36 mark as the Carroll University men's soccer team defeated Augustana College 3-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Thorson-Lucken Field on Sunday afternoon.
McCrystal's first collegiate goal secured a first conference victory and second shutout of the season for Carroll, which snapped a six-game losing streak to improve to 1-3 in the league standings and 3-10-1 overall.
Sophomore midfielder
Matt Quint (Waukesha, Wis.) followed with a goal in the 83rd minute, scoring on a header following a free kick by junior forward
Chad Peterson (Mukwonago, Wis.) for the Pioneers, who outshot Augustana 12-9 - including an 8-4 shot-on-goal advantage.
Sophomore midfielder
Peanut Taylor (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) added the final goal off an assist from freshman midfielder
Andy Golden (Muskego, Wis.) in the 86th minute.
Junior goalkeeper
Nick Drew (Milton, Wis.) played the entire 90 minutes, registering four saves to preserve a shutout.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Klaber had five saves for Augustana, which dropped to 0-4 in conference and 1-9-2 overall.
