Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Carroll makes huge statement in CCIW victory

Meyer scores winning goal in sixth minute versus North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. Jensen Meyer  picked the perfect time to score her first goal of the season.
Meyer, a 5-foot-5 junior midfielder from Germantown, Wis., came through with what proved to be the winning goal off an assist from senior forward/midfielder Sabrina Georgeff (Naperville, Ill.) at the 6:16 mark as the Carroll University women's soccer team defeated third-place North Central College 4-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was the second conference victory and seventh shutout of the season for Carroll, which extended its unbeaten streak to four games while improving to 2-1-2 in the highly contested league standings and 10-3-2 overall.
The dominant performance took on added significance as the Pioneers moved into sole possession of fourth place to stay in contention for a berth in the prestigious CCIW Tournament with three regular-season games remaining.
Leading 1-0 at the intermission, Carroll responded with three unanswered goals in the second half to pull away.
Georgeff followed with a goal on an assist from Meyer in the 49th minute for the Pioneers, who were outshot 17-12 but maintained a critical 9-8 shot-on-goal advantage.
Carroll extended the lead to 3-0 as junior forward/midfielder Delaney Pruitt (Ringwood, Ill.) scored off an assist from junior forward Rachel Van Sluys (Sheboygan, Wis.) in the 74th minute. Van Sluys added an unassisted goal at the 74:15 mark to round out the scoring barrage.
Sophomore goalkeeper Christina O' Block (Libertyville, Ill.) was a stabilizing force throughout the contest, registering eight saves to preserve a shutout.
Carroll has won 10 or more games in 15 of the past 16 seasons.
