Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Senior forward
Sabrina Georgeff (Naperville, Ill.) scored off an assist from senior forward
Carly Oboikovitz (La Grange, Ill.) at the 86:30 mark as the third-seeded Carroll University women's soccer team lost to second-seeded, No. 22-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University 2-1 in the semifinals of the College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin Tournament at Neis Field on Wednesday night.
It was a frustrating finish to a highly successful year for Carroll, which earned a berth in the prestigious four-team tourney for the second straight time but ended the season 12-4-3 overall.
Illinois Wesleyan, 16-3 overall, advanced to face No. 1-seeded regular-season champion Wheaton College in the finals at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The battle remained scoreless at the end of the first half as the fierce league rivals adjusted to the cold temperatures, steady driving mist and muddy field conditions.
The Titans responded with two goals over the course of the opening 13 minutes of the second half to seal a victory, including a goal by freshman forward/midfielder Cameron Hindel in the 51st minute and what proved to be the game-winning shot from sophomore midfielder Jordan Ellerbrock at the 58:08 mark.
