CHICAGO, Ill. - The Carroll University football team lost to North Park University 37-6 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at the Holmgren Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
It was the seventh consecutive loss for the Pioneers, who dropped to 1-6 in the conference standings and 1-8 overall.
North Park, which improved to 2-5 in league and 3-6 overall, scored 23 unanswered points in the first half - including 10 points in the decisive opening quarter.
Freshman quarterback Grant Borsch completed 8 of 16 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Vikings, who generated 10 first downs and 274 yards of total offense en route to producing their season-high point total on Senior Day.
Borsch connected with senior wide receiver Norman Cupicciotti on what eventually became a winning 62-yard touchdown pass with 13:31 remaining in the first quarter, capping a quick, three-play 69-yard game-opening drive.
Trailing 10-0 in the first quarter following a North Park field goal, Carroll responded with what appeared to be a promising 15-play, 58-yard drive but it stalled on third-and-goal from the North Park 7-yard line as junior quarterback
Colton Bahling's (Belvidere, Ill.) pass was intercepted in the left corner of the end zone with 2:07 left.
It proved to be a key turning point for North Park, which registered five interceptions in the contest - returning two for touchdowns in the momentum-shifting second quarter.
Carroll responded with its only points of the game as Bahling scored on a 4-yard run up the middle with 5:08 left in the third quarter to complete a time consuming six-minute, 11-play 56-yard drive.
Bahling rushed 14 times for 83 yards and also completed 11 of 20 passes for 71 yards with three interceptions for Carroll, which amassed 18 first downs and 259 total yards. Freshman backup quarterback
Michael Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis.) completed 10 of 16 passes for 47 yards with two interceptions.
Senior running back
J.J. Keels (Melbourne, Fla.) rushed 14 times for 45 yards for the Pioneers, who struggled to maintain a consistent rhythm throughout the day by converting just 6 of 18 times on third down and 1 of 4 times in the red zone.
Junior wide receiver
Parker Zitzke (Waukesha, Wis.) contributed a team-high seven receptions for 46 yards for the Pioneers. Junior tight end
David Meza (Berlin, Wis.) followed with six catches for 38 yards.
Senior defensive tackle
Ethan Molisee (Brookfield, Wis.) registered a team-high eight tackles for the Carroll defense. Junior defensive back
Colin Shepley (Northfield, Minn.) had seven tackles and an interception.Â

Cameron Cassaro (Caledonia, Ill.) and junior defensive end
Peter Kunesh (Manitowoc, Wis.) each collected five tackles for Carroll. Freshman defensive end
