WAUKESHA, Wis. - Sophomore attackman Paul Kerchberger (Deer Park, Ill.) scored two unassisted first-period goals but the Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to Fontbonne University 7-6 in a cold, snowy nonconference game at Schneider Stadium on Saturday.
The nail-biting overtime loss was the first on its home field for Carroll, which dropped to 1-2 overall.
Freshman attackman/midfielder Berlin Cole scored four goals, including the game-winner 1 minute, 4 seconds into overtime to lift Fontbonne, which improved to 1-2 overall.
Freshman midfielder Christopher Bechtel (Sammamish, Wash.), freshman attackman Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.), freshman midfielder Dominic Sabbarese (Verona, Wis.) and freshman midfielder Dannon Ivey (Grass Valley, Calif.) each added a goal for Carroll, which generated three goals in the fourth period.
Freshman goalkeeper Abraham Escarda (Sammamish, Wash.) had 13 saves in playing the entire 61 minutes for the Pioneers, who were outshot 33-28.
