MARQUETTE, Mich. - Freshman center fielder Rosalie Jrolf (Dousman, Wis.) went 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Carroll University softball team held on to defeat Calvin College 8-7 during the second round of the Finlandia Dome Classic on Saturday morning.
Carroll, which improved to 2-0 overall, scored six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to build momentum.
Sophomore catcher Veronica Rodriguez (South Bend, Ind.) followed with three hits, drove in a run and scored what became the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth.
Senior first baseman Kelly Strasser (Waterford, Wis.) added three hits for the Pioneers, who amassed 15 hits in the contest.
Freshman right-hander Amanda Osterhus (Munster, Ind.) was the winning pitcher, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks through 6 1/3 innings. Senior right hander Hannah Miller (Chicago, Ill.) picked up the save.
Sophomore left fielder Rachel Borden went 3-for-4 and scored two runs for Edgewood, which dropped to 3-1 overall.
