MARQUETTE, Mich. - Senior right-hander Hannah Miller (Chicago, Ill.) pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Carroll University softball team to a 4-0 victory over Edgewood College in the second round of the Finlandia Dome Classic on Saturday.
Miller, sophomore catcher Veronica Rodriguez (South Bend, Ind.), sophomore third baseman Kelsey Edwards (Rockford, Ill.) and freshman pinch hitter Emily Herberg (Chicago, Ill.) each drove in a run for Carroll, which improved to 3-0 overall.
The Pioneers collected eight hits in the contest.
Junior right-hander Shannon Whitmus allowed four earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout and five walks in taking the loss for Edgewood, which dropped to 0-4 overall.
