FT. MYERS, Fla. - Carroll University (4-8, 0-0 CCIW) dropped their final game of their spring trip on Sunday morning to Bethel University (12-3) by the final score of 4-1.
The Bethal pitching and defense would shut down the Pioneer offense limiting the Pios to just ten base runners in the game while rolling up three double-plays.
Carroll managed to stay in the game with strong defense and pitching. Starting pitcher Andrew Stone (1-1) would work six strong innings and Logan Johnson recorded to scoreless innings in relief.
The Pios would treaten in the ninth inning as Matt Putman would be hit with a pitch with two outs and a ground rule double off the bat of Jake Langford would put runners at second and third with one out. A two-out single by Drew Tanck would make the score 4-1 with runners on the corners. However, a ground ball would seal the win for Bethel.
Carroll will return to action on Saturday as they travel to St. Norbert College for a double header at noon.
