ASHLAND, Wis. - Freshman attacker Darby Henjum (Rosemount, Minn.) scored four of her team-high six goals in the second half to lead the Carroll University women's lacrosse team to a 17-14 victory over Northland College in a nonconference game at Ponzio Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the first victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 1-1 overall.
The Pioneers led 8-6 at halftime and put the game away by outscoring Northland 9-8 in the decisive second half.
Graduate attacker Donna January (Andower, Minn.) and sophomore midfielder Ariannah Ritter (Sun Prairie, Wis.) each followed with four goals for Carroll, which was outshot 39-34 but maintained a 29-26 shot-on-goal advantage. Junior attack Betty Koenig (Sun Prairie, Wis.), freshman attacker Amanda Ferr (Franklin, Wis.) and freshman defender Shay Fulton (Delafield, Wis.) each added a goal.Â
Ferr and sophomore midfielder Katie Majewski (Mundelein, Ill.) each had two assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) registered 12 saves in playing the entire way for the Pioneers.
Freshman midfielder Ashley Hammes had seven goals and an assist for Northland, which dropped to 0-4 overall.
