The men's and women's track teams hosted the Carroll Invite on Saturday, April 1. The men finished fourth out of 13 teams, scoring a total of 57.5 points. The women would also finish fourth out of 11 teams, scoring 82 total points. University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point won the invite for both the men and women, with the men scoring 241 points and the women scoring 168.5 points.
Grant Marton led the men, totaling a team high 20 points for the day. Marton finished first in the men's 1500m run (4:08.77), as well as the men's 800m run (1:56.85).
David Lembke also had a strong showing for the Pioneers, finishing with 16 total points. Lembke finished second in both the men's high jump and the men's triple jump. In the high jump Lembke finished with a height of 2.00m, only .05m behind the first place finisher. In the triple jump, Lembke finished with a distance of 13.09m.
The men also picked up a first place finish in the pole vault event, as
Sean Marton won the event with a height of 4.32m. The women also placed well in the pole vault event, as
Mikayla Laue finished in third with a height of 3.12m.
Marissa Wendtland led the lady Pioneers with 16 overall points. Wendtland finished second in both the 100m hurdles (15.91) and 400m hurdles (63.00).
The women's lone first place finish came from the 4x100m relay. The team of
Kimmy Mehlert,
Samantha Bartel,
Raissa Spencer, and
Alissa Elwing finished with a time of 49.68 seconds, and secured 10 points for the Pioneers.
The lady Pioneers would also grab 15 points in the women's 200m dash, as Spencer finished third (26.83), Mehlert finished fourth (27.09), and Bartel finished fifth (27.20).
Megan Reese would help the cause by finishing second in the women's 3,000m steeplechase (13.08.73), grabbing eight points for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers will be back in action on April 8, as they travel to Ripon College to compete in the Wisconsin Private College Championship.
