TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Carroll University men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at the end of two grueling overtimes in a tough, physical nonconference game at Intramural Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was the first draw of the season for Carroll, which is currently 0-3-1 overall.
Trailing 1-0 late in the first half, freshman defender
Tate Resch-Gauger (Appleton, Wis.) scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from senior midfielder
Aleksandar Spasic (Hudson, Wis.) with eight seconds remaining to tie the game.
Freshman forward
Scott Biancofiori (Janesville, Wis.) also scored the first goal of his collegiate career off a double assist from junior forward
Chad Peterson (Mukwonago, Wis.) and sophomore forward
Austin Schulze (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) at the 81:50 mark for the Pioneers, who were outshot 13-9 in the contest.
Junior goalkeeper
Connor Thompson (Kent, Wash.) had five saves in playing the entire 110 minutes for Carroll.
Freshman defender Ethan Butler scored in the 33rd minute and junior midfielder Lucas Kesterson added a game-tying goal at the 88:56 mark for Rose-Hulman, 2-1-1 overall.
