Pioneers fall to No. 2 Univ. of Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Carroll University women's soccer team lost to University of Chicago 5-0 in a challenging nonconference game at Stagg Field on Wednesday night.
It was the first road loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 4-2 overall.
University of Chicago, ranked No. 2 in the nation in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III poll, scored two unaswered goals within the opening 12 minutes of a decisive first half.
Senior midfielder Mia Calamari, senior forward Caroline Olivero, senior forward Madori Spiker, junior midfielder Jenna McKinney and freshman forward Katie Jasminski each scored a goal in the contest for the Maroons, who posted their third shutout of the season and improved to 5-0 overall.
Junior forward/midfielder Delaney Pruitt (Ringwood, Ill.) and junior forward Rachel Van Sluys (Sheboygan, Wis.) each had a shot for Carroll, which was outshot 32-2 - including a key 13-2 margin in the first half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Christina O' Block (Libertyville, Ill.) registered 11 saves in playing the entire 90 minutes for the Pioneers, who suffered their first shutout  of the year.
