Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | By Jeff Hagenau

Pioneers continue to roll in victory

Carroll generates six first-half goals versus Lawrence

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Fast, efficient and nearly flawless.
That was an appropriate way to describe the dominant performance of the Carroll University women's soccer team as it defeated Lawrence University 7-0 in a nonconference game at Schneider Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was the fourth consecutive shutout and fifth of the season for Carroll, which has won seven of its last eight and improved to 8-2 overall.
The Pioneers, who equaled their season high for goals in a single game, scored six times in the first half - including four in the opening eight minutes.
Carroll has won 17 of its last 18 home games dating back to Oct. 17, 2015.
The Pioneers outshot the Vikings 15-1 in the contest, highlighted by a dominant 13-1 shot-on-goal margin.
Carroll head coach Susie Foster was pleased with how her young squad came out energized, patiently executed and maintained its intensity for an entire 90 minutes.
"It was exciting to see everyone step up, make the most of the fast start and contribute to another strong victory," Foster said. "When we were able to score early on, it created a nice opportunity to get a lot of different players in the game to gain valuable experience. One of our main goals is to always grow as a team each time we compete and tonight we accomplished that."
It didn't take long for Carroll to showcase its talent, depth and athleticism in the contest, emerging with what proved to be the winning goal as junior forward/midfielder Delaney Pruitt (Ringwood, Ill.) scored off an assist from senior forward/midfielder   Jess Coia (Sugar Grove, Ill.) at the 2:21 mark.
On the game-winning sequence, Coia took possession, quickly worked down the middle of the field and abruptly delivered a diagonal crossing pass toward the left side.
Seconds later, Pruitt made a sharp cut toward the middle, quickly seized control of the ball, sprinted past two defenders and finished by firing a strong shot into the right corner of the net.
Junior forward  Rachel Van Sluys (Sheboygan, Wis.), the reigning College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin Player of the Year, scored on an assist from Pruitt 25 seconds later to extend the lead to 2-0.
Van Sluys finished with a team-high two goals, capped with a physical shot in the goalie's box on an assist from Pruitt in the eighth minute, and currently leads the team with 10 goals and four assists.
Senior forward/midfielder Sabrina Georgeff (Naperville, Ill.) and senior defender Jessica Drag  (Plainfield, Ill.) each followed with a goal for the Pioneers, who generated nine corner kicks. Sophomore midfielder/defender Jessica Schoff  (Racine, Wis.) and freshman forward Karlie Blaz (McHenry, Ill.) gained valuable playing experience -  each contributing their first collegiate goal to round out the scoring barrage.
Senior forward Carly Oboikovitz (LaGrange, Ill.) and freshman midfielder Kersten Klein (McFarland, Wis.) also contributed assists.
Junior Sabrina Sieger (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Christina O' Block (Libertyville, Ill.) split time at goalkeeper to combine for the shutout.
"We often talk about being all in all of the time which means our preparation begins long before we even step on the field at game time," Foster added. "It's an aspect of our game that can't be seen in any of the statistics but ultimately centers around our investment and all-around commitment to the program (referring to the focus in the classroom, how we carry ourselves on campus and our preparation in practice.) "Regardless of the opponent we take a lot of pride in playing at home and consistently try to make strides toward being at our best each time we step on the field. This victory will only help accelerate our progression and aid in our preparation for the games to come."
Lawrence dropped to work 1-7 overall.
