NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior guard
Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) registered a double-double by finishing with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Carroll University women's basketball team to a 60-55 victory over North Central College in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Gregory Arena on Wednesday night.
Carroll, which snapped a five-game conference losing streak, improved to 3-7 in the league standings and 6-13 overall.
The Pioneers trailed 55-50 late in the second half but responded to the pressure-packed challenge by answering with a decisive 10-0 run over the course of the final three minutes.
Freshman point guard
Emily Majerus (Plymouth, Wis.) made a 3-point basket to claim a 58-55 lead with 41 seconds remaining.
Junior guard/forward
Rachel Van Sluys (Sheboygan, Wis.) also contributed a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for Carroll, which made five 3-point baskets, 9 of 15 free throws and shot 33.3 percent from field-goal range. Majerus chipped in six points with freshman forward
Katie Rossetti (Wauconda, Ill.) following with five points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.
Sophomore forward Maya Walls scored a team-high 10 points for North Central, which dropped to 2-9 in conference and 4-16 overall.
