Griffin Idelman (Wood Dale, Ill.) kicked field goals of 21 and 36 yards in the second quarter as the Carroll University football team lost to Washington University in St. Louis 44-6 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin season finale at Francis Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was the third consecutive conference loss for Carroll, which ended the season 2-7 in the league standings and 3-7 overall.
The Pioneers, who faced Washington University for the first time in school history, were outscored 20-6 in the momentum-building first half - including 17 unanswered points in the pivotal opening quarter.
Junior quarterback Johnny Davidson completed 20 of 35 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bears, who won their third straight to improve to 7-2 in the conference standings and 8-2 overall with the Senior Day effort.
Washington University scored what proved to be the winning points as Davidson connected with senior wide receiver Matt Goldberg on a 29-yard touchdown pass to cap a six-play, 56-yard drive with 11:38 remaining in the first quarter.
Senior wide receiver Jason Singer made six receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown for the Bears, who amassed 22 first downs and 436 yards of total offense. Goldberg finished with five catches for 80 yards in the contest.

Colton Bahling (Belvidere, Ill.) completed 13 of 19 passes for 95 yards and rushed 16 times for a team-high 70 yards for Carroll, which had 15 first downs and 327 total yards. Senior wide receiver
