ASHLAND, Va. - Senior guard
Troy Howat (Planfield, Ill.) scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half, including two baskets from 3-point range, but the Carroll University men's basketball team lost to high-powered No. 15-ranked Randolph-Macon College 78-64 in the opening round of the Randolph-Macon Coaches Tournament on Friday evening.
It was the third road loss to a Top 25-ranked opponent this season for Carroll, which dropped to 4-8 overall with the challenging test.
The Pioneers, who trailed 39-28 at halftime, trimmed an eventual 20-point second-half deficit down to 66-56 on a jump shot by Howat with 5:26 remaining but couldn't get any closer.

Tyler Ingebrigtsen (Elk Grove, Ill.), who was plagued by trouble in the first half, contributed 12 of his 14 points in the second half, grabbed six rebounds and had an assist for Carroll - which converted five 3-pointers, 13 of 18 free throws and shot 47.9 percent from field-goal range.

Nick Penny (Lake Zurich, Ill.) followed with nine points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal for the Pioneers. Senior forward

Sophomore guard Buzz Anthony finished with a game-high 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals to lead Randolph-Macon, which improved to 11-1 overall. Senior forward Grayson Midulla had 14 points and senior forward Jon Nowell added 12 points for the Yellow Jackets, who made seven 3-pointers, 15 of 22 free throws and shot 48.3 percent from the field.
