ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Carroll University softball team lost to St. Catherine University 11-3 in a nonconference showdown to cap the final day of the Luther Dome Games at the RCTC Dome on Sunday afternoon.
It was the second road loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 2-2 overall.
The Pioneers trailed 4-3 after three complete innings but struggled to maintain the momentum as they yielded three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.
Carroll sophomore designated hitter
Elaine Anderson (Bristol, Wis.)  drove in the first run of the contest on an RBI double to left field  in the bottom of the first.
St. Catherine, which had a 15-hit attack, responded with four runs in the top of the second to claim a 4-1 lead.
Junior center fielder
Rosie Craine (Wheaton, Ill.) had a run-scoring single to right field and junior right fielder
Annika Graves (Muskego, Wis.) had an RBI groundout to trim the deficit to a one-run margin in the second.
Sophomore right-hander
Lexy Kemnitzer (McFarland, Wis.) was the losing pitcher, scattering nine hits with three strikeouts and three walks through four complete innings.
