Michaela Johnson scored a team-high six goals as the Carroll University women's lacrosse team defeated Mount St. Joseph University 17-5 in a nonconference game Wednesday evening.
It was the second victory of a highly successful two-game Spring Break road trip for Carroll, which remained undefeated and improved its program-best record to 6-0 overall.
The dominant performance took on added significance as it equaled a program-high goal total for a single game.
Johnson, a 5-foot-5 freshman midfielder from Mukwonago, Wis., currently has a team-leading 27 goals on the season.
The Pioneers outscored Mount St. Joseph 10-4 in the decisive first half, including a 5-1 advantage over the course of the opening 15 minutes.
Junior midfielder
Ariannah Ritter (Sun Prairie, Wis.) followed with five goals for Carroll, which outshot the Lions 50-13 - maintaining a 37-8 shot-on-goal advantage.
Freshman midfielder
Clara Jelacic (Waukesha, Wis.) contributed a hat trick, senior attacker
Betty Koenig (Sun Prairie, Wis.) had two goals and freshman
Courtenay Karls (Waukesha, Wis.) added a goal for the Pioneers.
Junior goalkeeper
Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) had three saves in playing the entire 60 minutes.
Senior midfielder Courtney Gleason had a hat trick for Mount St. Joseph, which dropped to 0-5 overall. Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Vinel registered 20 saves for the Lions.
