Pios end Spring Break trip on high note

Carroll posts shutout in finale to finish 7-5 in 12-game tournament

CLERMONT, Fla. - Sophomore right-hander Amanda Osterhus (Munster, Ind.) pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks as the Carroll University softball team defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 4-0 to cap its final day of the PFX Spring Games at Hancock Park on Friday afternoon.
It was the third shutout of the season for Carroll, which finished with a 7-5 record on the highly successful Spring Break trip and improved to 9-7 overall.
The energized, steadily improving Pioneers won six of the last seven games to complete the challenging 12-game competition.
Sophomore first baseman Elaine Anderson (Bristol, Wis.) drove in what became the winning runs on a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning and sophomore left fielder Rosalie Jrolf (Dousman, Wis.) added a two RBI double in the third.
Anderson went 2-for-3 and scored a run to pace a five-run attack for Carroll, which collected three doubles in the contest.
Freshman left fielder Tatum Tackmeier went 2-for-3 for UW-Stevens Point, which dropped to 6-6 overall.
