DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Carroll University men's lacrosse team struggled to sustain the early momentum as it lost to University of Dubuque 13-4 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Oyen Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was the first conference road loss for Carroll, which dropped to 0-3 in the league standings and 2-9 overall.
The Pioneers trailed 3-2 at the end of the first quarter but yielded four unanswered goals in what became a decisive second quarter.
Freshman midfielder
Michael Peters (Chicago, Ill.) contributed two goals and an assist for Carroll, which was outshot 48-21 - including a 28-14 shot-on-goal margin.
Junior attackman
Paul Kerchberger (Deer Park, Ill.) and freshman attackman
Airik Ranjo (San Diego, Calif.) each added a goal for the Pioneers. Sophomore attackman
Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.) and sophomore midfielder
Dom Sabbarese (Verona, Wis.) each had an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Abe Escarda (Sammamish, Wash.) registered 15 saves in playing the entire 60 minutes.
Sophomore attackman Michael Jango and freshman attackman Tanner Weis each had a hat trick for University of Dubuque, which improved to 1-3 in conference and 7-7 overall.Â
