BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Freshman midfielder
Clara Jelacic (Waukesha, Wis.) scored two unassisted goals in the first half but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University women's lacrosse team lost to Illinois Wesleyan 18-3 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Tucci Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the second consecutive conference road loss for Carroll, which dropped to 3-2 in the league standings and 13-2 overall.
Illinois Wesleyan, which improved to 4-0 in conference and 11-4 overall, outscored the Pioneers 9-3 in the decisive first half - including five unanswered goals over the course of the opening 14 minutes.
Freshman midfielder
Alyssa Scharff (Nashotah, Wis.) had the other goal for Carroll, which was outshot 42-12 - including a 30-11 shot-on-goal margin.
Junior goalkeeper
Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) registered 12 saves.
Junior midfielder Grainne Kelly had a game-high five goals and an assist for first-place IWU.
