BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Sophomore attackman
Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.) had a hat trick and an assist but the Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to first-place Illinois Wesleyan 35-6 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Tucci Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the season finale for Carroll, which finished 0-6 in the conference standings and 2-12 overall.
Illinois Wesleyan, which improved to 6-0 in conference and 14-3 overall, outscored the Pioneers 22-4 in the first half - including a decisive 15-1 margin in the opening quarter.
Freshman attackman
Airik Ranjo (San Diego, Calif.) followed with two goals for Carroll, which was outshot 80-25 - including a 50-14 shot-on-goal advantage. Junior attackman
Paul Kerchberger (Deer Park, Ill.) added the other goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Abe Escarda (Sammamish, Wash.) registered 11 saves in playing 45 minutes for the Pioneers.
Sophomore attackman Alex Doorenbos scored four goals to lead Illinois Wesleyan, which celebrated Senior Day by establishing a single-game program record for goals.
