MOLINE, Ill. – Carroll University (21-17, 8-14 CCIW) fell short in a 9-5 loss at Augustana College (24-13, 12-10 CCIW) on Friday night.

Three runs in the first and a pair of runs in the bottom of the second gave Augustana the early 5-0 lead.

A solo-shot to centerfield by Dylan Callahan in the top of the fourth would cut the lead to 5-1.

Augustana would add three more unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 8-1.

Callahan would drive home his second run of the game on a two-out single up the middle to cut the lead to 8-2 in the sixth.

Matt Putman would drive home Brady Durni in the eighth inning and Langford would score on a sacrifice fly by AJ Johnson to cut the lead to 9-4.

Hunter Frey would double and score on a fielding error in the ninth to cut the lead to 9-5 and the Pios would have the tying run in the on deck circle to end the game.

Langford would finish the day 4x5 at the plate, Putman, Durni and Callahan would each add a pair of hits in the loss.

Andrew Stone worked five strong innings in relieve, striking out four without giving up an earned run.

Carroll returns to action Saturday with a double-header with Augustana at 1pm.
