Carroll swept by No. 9 UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - Senior outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) contributed a team-high eight kills as the Carroll University women's volleyball team lost to ninth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 25-16, 25-14, 26-24 in the opening round of the Dig Panicki Classic at the Kris Russell Volleyball Arena on Friday afternoon.
It was the second consecutive loss for Carroll, which dropped to 11-10 overall.
Senior outside hitter Kylie Mueller (Fox Lake, Ill.) followed with six kills and three blocks for the Pioneers, who finished with 30 kills, 36 digs and eight blocks. Senior outside hitter Erika Dunnam (Shawano, Wis.) finished with five kills, senior outside hitter Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) had four kills with junior middle blocker Rachel Noonan (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and freshman middle blocker Mackenzie Olson (Rock Falls, Ill.) each adding four blocks.
Freshman defensive specialist Emily Konop (Oregon, Wis.) had 11 digs, six assists and two service aces for Carroll. Senior setter Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) added 14 assists and an ace.
Freshman outside hitter Johni Bunkers had eight kills with senior middle blocker Ashton Doll and sophomore outside hitter Emma Aske finishing with six each for UW-Whitewater, which won its 10th straight to improve to 16-3 overall.
