CLERMONT, Fla. - Junior right-hander
Lexy Kemnitzer (McFarland, Wis.) pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk through six complete innings to lead the Carroll University softball team to a 4-0 victory over Lasell College its final game of the PFX Spring Games at Legends Way Fields on Friday morning.
It was the second shutout of the season for Carroll, which finished the challenging 12-game Florida spring break trip with a successful 8-4 record and improved to 9-6 overall.
The Pioneers scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, following with single runs in the third and fourth.
Freshman left fielder
Katelyn Schneider (Sussex, Wis.) drove in what proved to be the winning run on an RBI single and junior designated player
Rosalie Jrolf (Dousman, Wis.) followed with RBI fielder's choice in the first for Carroll, which amassed 11 hits and didn't commit an error.
Sophomore third baseman
Allyssa Demma (Orland Park, Ill.) contributed a run-scoring single in the third and freshman center fielder
Sierra Grubor (Milwaukee, Wis.) rounded out the scoring with an RBI single in the fourth.
Grubor went 3-for-4 with a run scored and stolen base for the Pioneers. Schneider had two hits with Kemnitzer, Jrolf, senior right fielder
Annika Graves (Muskego, Wis.), senior first baseman
Kelsey Edwards (Rockford, Ill.) and freshman shortstop
Madison Wagner (Harrison, Wis.) each added a hit.
Freshman right-hander
Ellie Egyed (Oregon, Ill.) pitched the final inning to preserve the shutout.
