TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Carroll University (4-6, 0-0 CCIW) topped the Milwaukee School of Engineering 14-11 on Saturday afternoon before falling to host Rose-Hulman 18-8 in the nightcap.
Both games featured lots of offense and pitchers that struggled to consistently get off the field.
Carroll scored 22 runs on the day on 28 hits in the two game set. Matt Putman continued his hot start, recording five hits on the day, including his third homerun of the season. Justin Baker recorded his first career homerun in the first inning of game two.
Freshman Derek Baumgartner picked up his first collegiate win in his first career appearance. Baumgartner worked 4 innings and struck out five in game one.
Carroll returns to action on Sunday versus MSOE at 2pm EST and Rose-Hulman at 5pm EST.
