DECATUR, Ill - Carroll University (10-14, 2-6 CCIW) rode the shoulders of senior righty Cam Godinsky's complete game shutout to take the 1-0 win Friday night at Millikin University (10-13, 5-6 CCIW).
Millikin would lead off the bottom of the first with a single, but Godinsky would strand him at second. The Big Blue would manage just four hits and four total baserunners over the final eight innings.
The lone run in the game would cross the plate in the top of the third inning. Catcher TJ Pfaffle would lead-off the inning with a line-drive single to right-center field. Freshman Matt Pestel would sacrifice bunt Pfaffle to second and lead-off hitter Ethan Fleigle would drive home Pfaffle to give the Pios the 1-0 advantage.
Godinsky (3-3) would cruise to the win, scattering five hits, walking none and striking out eight in the complete game shutout.
Carroll and Millikin will face-off in a double header on Saturday, first pitch is scheduled for noon.
