MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Carroll University softball team lost to Milwaukee School of Engineering 8-5 in the finale of a nonconference doubleheader Thursday afternoon.
The road loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Carroll, which dropped to 20-11 overall with the twin-bill split.
The Pioneers led 4-3 but yielded two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the momentum-shifting fifth.
Sophomore third baseman
Allyssa Demma (Orland Park, Ill.) delivered a two-run single down the left-field line to spark a four-run top of the fourth inning for Carroll, which finished with 14 hits in the contest but stranded 11 baserunners. Senior second baseman
Maggie Erdman (Jefferson, Wis.) followed with an RBI single to right-center field and senior right fielder
Annika Graves (Muskego, Wis.) had a run-scoring single to left field.
The Pioneers' final run came on an RBI single down the right-field line by freshman shortstop
Madison Wagner (Harrison, Wis.) in the sixth.
Demma went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs for Carroll. Freshman center fielder
Sierra Grubor (Milwaukee, Wis.) added three hits in the contest.
Junior right-hander
Lexy Kemnitzer (McFarland, Wis.) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on  11 hits through five complete innings.
It was the first loss of the season for Kemnitzer, who dropped to 7-1 overall.
