KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carroll University softball team lost to Carthage College 4-1 in the opening game of a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.
It was the second straight conference loss for Carroll, which dropped to 7-4 in the highly contested league standings and 21-13 overall.
Carthage, which improved to 7-4 in league and 19-8 overall, scored single runs in the bottom of the first, third, fourth and fifth.
Senior right-fielder
Annika Graves (Muskego, Wis.) went 2-for-4 and stole home in the top of the first for Carroll, which stranded seven baserunners and committed two errors in the contest. Senior catcher

Sierra Grubor (Milwaukee, Wis.) and freshman first baseman
Kaylee Learman (Greenwood, Wis.) each added a hit.
Stefanie Guercio pitched a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk to earn a complete-game victory for Carthage.
Junior right-hander
Amanda Osterhus (Munster, Ind.) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and four walks through six innings.
