Waukesha, Wis. -- The Carroll University women's tennis team took on CCIW opponent Elmhurst today in Waukesha. The women handled Elmhurst, winning the dual 9-0 for their second shutout of the season. 
 
In doubles, the pairings of Grace Krueger/Ashley LaBelle and Maya Gaedtke/Carolyn Merkatoris led the charge, with both teams winning their sets 8-2. The other double pairing of Rachel Papp/Erika Bosman defeated their opponent as well, 8-4. 
 
In singles play, five of the six Pioneers competing took their opponents in straight sets, including Krueger (6-0,6-2), LaBelle (6-1,6-0), Gaedtke (6-1,6-1), Merkatoris (7-6(4),6-2), and Lora Leach (7-6(0),6-2). Papp, the other singles match of the evening, fell in her first set 5-7. However, she fought back, and won her final two sets 6-3 and 10-4 in the tie breaker set.
 
The women will continue their home stand for the next four straight games, including two matches on Sunday, September 29 against in state competition Marian and UW-Stevens Point.
