Wheaton, Ill. – The Carroll University women's tennis team fell on the road at conference foe Wheaton (Ill.) today. The women ended the day with a score of 1-8.
 
In doubles, Grace Krueger and Ashley LaBelle were bested by Wheaton's top pairing, 6-8. The other Pioneers pairings Carolyn Merkatoris & Maya Gaedtke, and Rachel Papp &Frankie Grimes fell to their opponents 1-8 and 0-8 respectively.
 
In singles, Krueger registered the only win of the day, easily handling her opponent in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). Maya Gaedtke took her first set (6-5), but eventually hit a cold streak, falling 0-6 and 7-10. Erika Bosman (2-6, 1-6), LaBelle (1-6, 3-6), Merkatoris (2-6, 1-6), and Lora Leach (0-6, 0-6) struggled on the day, losing in straight sets.
 
The women will travel to the ITA Regional Friday Sept. 20-22 hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College in hopes to get back in the win column.
