Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

New era begins for Carroll men

Olsen makes head coaching debut as Pioneers fall to MSOE in season-opening nonconference game

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Senior midfielder Michael Peters scored two fourth-quarter goals but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to high-powered Milwaukee School of Engineering 25-3 in a frigid, blustery nonconference season opener at Schneider Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Junior attackman Cordell McNamara had the other goal and an assist for Carroll, which was outscored 10-1 in the first quarter - including seven consecutive goals over the course of the opening five minutes.

Senior midfielder/attackman Jeff Schultz also contributed an assist in the home-field season debut for the Pioneers. Senior goalkeeper Abe Escarda registered 22 saves.
It was the first game at the helm for Carroll head coach Zack Olsen.
"This was our first competition, we didn't scrimmage anyone and so it was great to see everyone stay together," Olsen said. "The energy was fine on the sideline despite being behind, there wasn't any bickering and there were a lot of positives to pull from the experience.
"Having a number of subs on the roster this year will certainly help out and allow us the chance to get a lot of different people  on and off the field. It's tough when you don't win many faceoffs and they only come off violations.  One of our face-off guys was sick and won't be back for almost a month so that was tough and didn't help the situation. For the time being, it will be faceoff by committee. We have some work to do with our clears but the offense and defense looked pretty decent. Now it's just about putting some pieces together.
Looking at the bigger picture, it was the first game of the season so it will just take some time to get going."
