Waukesha, Wis. – The Carroll University volleyball team played a gray-white scrimmage Saturday afternoon in Van Male Field House. Team White got the best of team Gray, winning 4-0 in sets. It was also senior day for
Rachel Noonan and
Sam Penzkowski.
Noonan and Penzkowski led the way with scoring tonight. Penzkowski recorded a personal best 19 kills in addition to eight digs, while Noonan followed close behind with 16 kills and five blocks. Mackenzie Olson recorded 15 kills for the gray team, with freshman
Grace Schopf adding an additional 8.
Emily Konop led both teams with 19 total digs, switching back and forth from her typical libero position. Freshmen
Caitlin Laird and
Keyana Gloeckle played well in their debuts, recording 15 and 12 digs, respectively. Newcomer
Emily Schliesman recorded a team high 24 assists, while
Isabela Valdez tallied 20 while switching teams.
In the best set of the night, team gray mounted a comeback that nearly upset team white, scoring five of the last eight points in the match, but a kill by Schliesman secured the set for white.
Both teams remained socially distant on the bench, while also wearing their masks when not in play. Fans and families in attendance also sat distanced, while wearing masks the entirety of the event.
