ELMHURST, ILL. – The Carroll University women's soccer team finished double overtime without breaking a tie for the second time this season. The Pioneers and Bluejays finished scoreless after 110 minutes on the road.
Grace Tumilty led the Pioneers with six shots.
The Pioneers (8-3-2, 0-2-1 CCIW) are still searching for their first CCIW win of the season through three games. Carroll dominated Elmhurst in total shots, 20-6, including 10 in the second half. 10 shots on goal for the Pioneers led to 10 saves by the Elmhurst keeper.
Rachel Jenewein only saw six shots from the Bluejays, while saving three shots on goal.
Carroll jumped into action quickly, putting three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes, all leading to saves. Elmhurst didn't get their first shot on goal until the 43
rd minute of the first half.
Elmhurst had two chances in the 67
th minute of the second half, getting off two shots in 20 seconds, while Jenewein recorded one of her saves. Jenewein saved a shot from ending the game in favor of the Bluejays in the 87
th minute. Both teams totaled two shots over the two overtime periods, with nothing getting through the keepers.
Carroll will host a non-conference game against Lake Forest next Wednesday evening at Schneider Stadium at 5 PM.
