WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's tennis team begins its quest for a CCIW Tournament Championship tomorrow, October 21. The Pioneers, the sixth seed in this year's tournament, come into a rematch from this past Sunday with #3 Wheaton.
 
The Pioneers (5-6, 3-5 CCIW) faced adversity through injuries this season, as graduate student leader Grace Krueger missed time, and only competed in five matches. The Pios have had to resort to young depth. Freshman Sophia Dekker provided a spark, finishing 4-4 in conference singles and 6-2 in conference doubles.
 
Other Pioneers who have made impacts this season include Maya Gaedtke (3-5 CCIW Singles, 5-3 CCIW doubles), Madison Ostrander (4-4 CCIW singles, 5-3 CCIW doubles) and Ashley LaBelle (3-5 CCIW singles, 3-5 CCIW doubles).
 
The Pioneers face the Thunder on Thursday, October 21^st at approximately 1 PM. The CCIW Women's Tennis Championships will be held at the Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois. The winner of this matchup will go on to face the winner of Millikin vs Illinois Wesleyan on Friday, October 22. Live results will be available at gopios.com/wtennis.
