CHICAGO, Ill. – The Carroll University women's soccer team picked up its third CCIW victory and 11
th of the season on Wednesday night at North Park. Carroll came back from down 0-1 at half to win 3-1.
Elizabeth Weinberg scored the equalizer, while
Jo Ueland netted the game-winner.
The Pioneers (11-4-2, 3-3-1 CCIW) held North Park to just six shots while putting up 13 of their own. Weinberg's five attempts were all on goal and led the team. The Pios picked up a clean sheet in the fouls category tonight, not committing one all game. Carroll asserted themselves with eight corner kicks, including five in the first half.
In the 32
nd minute, North Park took advantage of
Rachel Jenewein leaving the net open and beating her off her line to take a 1-0 lead. Weinberg took two more chances at goal before the end of the first-half buzzer, but both were saved.
Carroll tied the contest in the 52
nd minute with a Weinberg header. Weinberg's goal, her tenth of the season, came off a corner kick taken by
Kaitlyn Zanon.
Ally Scoma entered the ball game in the 67
th minute, and soon after assisted on Ueland's game-winner. The Pioneers added some insurance from a deep goal from
Haley Brown, her first of the season.
Carroll finishes off the regular season with a bout with North Central on Saturday, October 30 in Naperville.
