WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Carroll University women's bowling team finished up a two-day event this past Sunday at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Classic. The Pioneers finished in sixth place after five rounds of traditional games on Saturday, and five baker matches Sunday, including three baker bracket games.
The Pioneers opened the weekend against no. 24 Marian and no. 21 UW-Whitewater. The Pioneers picked up their first win on Saturday against Dominican in their first traditional win of the season, 965-786. 965 is a season-high pinfall for the Pioneers in trad games, and
Alexis Ciesemier and
Gabby Voskuill had season-best games. The Pioneers defeated CCIW foe Illinois Wesleyan 778-540 to finish off Friday. Ciesemier led the team with an average of 178.2 through five trad games.
On Saturday, Carroll opened the day with three straight baker losses, including two to conference opponents. The Pioneers defeated Dominican once again, 930-637 for the highest baker total pinfall this season. Carroll fell to Aurora 770-814 in the fifth-place match in the eight-team tournament.
Carroll will break until after the new year, as they travel to Waterloo, Iowa for the Upper Iowa University Peacocks Classic on January 21.
