RIPON, Wis. – The Carroll University men's indoor track and field squad traveled to Ripon on Saturday for the opening indoor meet of the 2022 season. Carroll came away with two first-place finishes by returning 2021 Outdoor National Champion
Steven Hermsen.
In track events, the Pioneers' 4x400 squad of
Peter Marra,
Logan Froseth,
River Sterud, and
Nathan Raatz finished in second place with a time of 3:40.62. Marra also finished second individually in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.85 seconds.
Kevin Lind finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 23.65, and also competed in the 60-meter dash, completing the race in 7.09.
In the field and throwing events,
Steven Hermsen secured a dominant victory in the weight throw, finishing with a distance of 18.01-meters. Hermsen also finished in the top spot in the men's shot put with a distance of 14.46-meters, only falling to an unattached open participant.
Max Campbell finished just behind Hermsen in the shot put, and
James Hinkley finished second to Hermsen in the weight throw.
David Burgess,
Kevin Lind, and
Tom Mor finished second, fourth, and fifth in the men's triple jump, respectively. Mor also competed in the long jump.
