Ripon, Wis. – The Carroll University women's indoor track and field team took to the indoor track on Saturday at the Ripon Winter Invite to start the 2022 season. The Pioneers had two first-place finishes in the two throwing events, with
Jamie Pankratz in the weight throw and
Vanessa Uitenbroek breaking the school shot put record.
In track events,
Mary Quinn qualified for the 60-meter hurdles final but did not finish after her second-best prelim time of the event.
Lexi Elegbede-Peer finished with a sixth-best time of 8.17 in the 60-meter dash, finishing just .13 seconds off her own school record in the event. Elegbede-Peer and
Hannah Bouwkamp finished in fourth and sixth, respectively in the 200-meter dash race. The Pioneer 4x400 team of Bouwkamp,
Taylor Olund, Quinn, and
Victoria Watson, finished in fifth place.
In the field events,
Sydney Halversen tied for third place in the high jump, jumping to a 1.51-meter distance.
Jessica Mueller, the longtime Pio pole vaulter, finished in third place with a height of 2.95 meters. Pankratz won the weight throw event with a 16.43-meter toss, while Uitenbroek and
Megan Brisbois finished inside the top six. Uitenbroek broke the school record with a distance of 13.86 meters, while
Maria Falk and
Cate Gudaitis finished top five in the event as well.
