Pioneers Set Records at Carthage and UW–La Crosse Meets

Despite a week of altered training schedules while hosting championship events on campus, the Carroll track and field teams delivered multiple record-breaking performances across a pair of meets on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday at Carthage, Katelyn Duber produced one of the standout moments of the weekend by breaking a 33-year-old school record in the triple jump. Duber recorded a leap of 11.36 meters, surpassing the previous mark of 11.22 meters held by Carroll Athletics Hall of Famer. The performance marked a significant milestone for Duber and continued Carroll's tradition of excellence in the jumping events.

The Carroll women's 4x400-meter relay also etched its name deeper into the record book, lowering its own school record for the second time this season. The quartet of Tirzah Losos, Cady Carlson, Rianna Schultz, and Hana Smith clocked a time of 4:02.89, improving upon their previous mark of 4:03.71. With all four runners being freshmen or sophomores, the relay's continued progression highlights a promising future for the Pioneer women's program.

Brady Reusser represented Carroll in the shot put at Carthage, placing sixth in the event, with his effort contributing valuable competitive experience as the team prepares for the postseason.

Saturday's meet at UW–La Crosse featured another historic performance, this time from Brian Smith. Smith shattered a 14-year-old Carroll record in the 400 meters, a result that currently places him tied for 10th nationally in the NCAA Division III rankings. The record-breaking run capped a remarkable weekend for Smith, who continues to establish himself among the nation's elite.

Smith also added a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, setting a new personal record of 22.09 seconds. The time officially closes the season with Smith standing as the fastest freshman in Carroll history in the event.

As the NCAA Division III championship field is set to be released, Carroll currently has Brian Smith, Carlos Cadet, and Jenna positioned inside the top 20 nationally in their respective events. With the NCAA selecting the top 20 declared athletes per event, the Pioneers are optimistic about sending multiple competitors to the national championships.

The official NCAA list will be released later this evening, with Carroll awaiting confirmation on what could be another strong showing for the program on the national stage.
