Carroll Has Strong Showing at CCIW Track & Field Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the outdoor season at the CCIW Conference Championships, with the men finishing sixth and the women placing seventh in a highly competitive conference meet.

Men's Championship Recap

The Carroll men totaled 43 points to finish sixth in the team standings, highlighted by standout performances in the jumps, throws, sprints, and relays.

Freshman Carlos Cadet delivered one of the top performances of the weekend, winning the long jump with a mark of 7.07 meters (23-02.50) to score 10 points. The jump ranks among the top marks nationally in NCAA Division III this season. Cadet also added a second-place finish in the triple jump, recording 14.31 meters (46-11.50) to score eight additional points.

Senior Brady Reusser anchored the throws group, placing second in the shot put with a throw of 15.05 meters (49-04.50) and finishing fourth in the discus at 50.56 meters (165-10) to score in both events.

On the track, freshman Brian Smith continued his breakout season by placing third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.86, scoring six points after qualifying for the final in prelims. Smith also ran a leg on Carroll's 4x400 relay. He was also named the first-year field athlete of the year in the conference, showcasing his remarkable inaugral season. 

The men's 4x100 relay of Denim Riley, Eber Lopez, Matthew Konieczny, and Connor Tector placed fifth in 44.96, adding four points to the team total.

Distance runner Bailey Olson capped his collegiate career with a personal best in the 3000-meter steeplechase, while sophomore Julian Bica Harrison recorded a personal best in the 5000 meters during championship competition.

Women's Championship Recap

The Carroll women scored 53.5 points to finish seventh, with strong contributions coming from the hurdles, field events, relays, and throws.

Sophomore Tirzah Losos was a key contributor, scoring in both hurdle events. Losos placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best 15.79, then followed with another fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a personal-best 1:07.92 to account for eight points.

Freshman Jenna Weis continued her impressive debut season by finishing second in the pole vault, clearing 3.86 meters (12-08.00) to score eight points.

Junior Grace Pequignot delivered a strong showing in the throws, placing second in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.35 meters (152-00). Fellow junior Caroline Plasil added points in multiple events, including a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw and a personal best in the discus.

In the jumps, sophomore Clare Whitney placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.54 meters (5-00.50).

On the track, sophomore Hana Smith earned All-Conference honors with a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters, scoring three points for the Pioneers after advancing through prelims earlier in the meet.

The women's 4x400 relay of Rianna Schultz, Addison Korte, Cadence Carlson, and Hana Smith capped the meet with a third-place finish in 4:02.17, earning six points and ranking among the top Division III relay times this season.

Team Finishes

The Carroll men's and women's track & field programs delivered strong, balanced performances at the CCIW Championships, with the men finishing sixth and the women placing seventh in one of the deepest conference fields in recent years.

The men's sixth-place finish (43 points) reflected Carroll's ability to score across multiple event groups, highlighted by championship-level performances in the jumps, consistent point production in the throws, and continued growth on the track. The Pioneers earned points in sprints, relays, jumps, and field events, showcasing a well-rounded lineup that competed with the top teams in the league.

On the women's side, Carroll's seventh-place finish (53.5 points) was fueled by impactful performances in the hurdles, throws, jumps, and relays. The Pioneers consistently advanced athletes to finals, converted scoring opportunities, and produced key podium finishes throughout the meet. The team's point total reflected both high-end scoring and valuable depth across the roster.

Additionally, Hana Smith and Jenna Weis earned the Elite 26 award, while Julian Bica Harrison and Alanna Schuett earned the RESPECT awards for the Pioneers.

Across both squads, Carroll student-athletes delivered a championship effort marked by personal bests, scoring performances, and resilience throughout the multi-day meet. The results underscored the continued development of the program and the competitive standard Carroll brings to the conference championship stage each season.
