Historic Weekend for Carroll Track & Field as Pioneers Shine at Beloit and UW-Oshkosh

BELOIT, Wis. / OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Carroll University track & field teams delivered a statement weekend across two meets, combining for 76 personal bests while recording team success, facility records, school records, and nationally ranked performances at the Beloit Invitational on April 10 and the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on April 10–11.

The weekend opened in Beloit with an outstanding showing from the Carroll women, who won the team title behind victories and podium finishes across the track and field events. Carroll also made history at Strong Stadium, setting two facility records. Jenna Weis reset the Beloit facility record in the pole vault, clearing 3.70 meters, while Brian Smith broke the facility record in the men's 400 meters with a time of 48.00. Smith's performance also established a new Carroll school record, one of the major highlights of the meet.

Carroll racked up event wins throughout the Beloit meet. Rebecca Barnes captured first place in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Kyla Laabs led a dominant Carroll showing in the women's 1,500 meters, finishing first with multiple Pioneers close behind. Tirzah Losos swept the hurdles, winning both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles, while Cadence Carlson claimed first in the women's 400 meters.

On the men's side, Brian Smith led a Carroll sweep of the 400 meters, and Sam Daley took first in the men's 5,000 meters. In the field events, Clare Whitney won the women's high jump, Margaret Carter captured the long jump, and Katelyn Duber dominated the triple jump with a winning mark of 11.35 meters. Weis added another victory in the 200 meters, capping a standout day.

Beyond the wins, Beloit was a massive PR meet for the Pioneers. Lifetime personal bests were recorded across distance, hurdles, jumps, and vaults, including PRs from Rebecca Barnes (steeplechase), multiple women in the 1,500 and 800, Tirzah Losos (100H, 400H), Paola Orozco and Keagan Knue (5,000), and several athletes in the vertical jumps.

Momentum carried into the UW-Oshkosh Invitational, where Carroll continued to stack personal bests across all event groups. The Pioneers saw lifetime PRs in sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, and multi-events, highlighted by strong performances in the throwing events and combined events. Brady Reusser posted a lifetime best in the discus, moving him to 28th nationally, while Carroll athletes across Oshkosh added PRs in the javelin, shot put, hammer, and decathlon/heptathlon events.

Several Carroll athletes now sit inside the national top 50, including Brian Smith (24th, men's 400), Jenna Weis (16th, women's pole vault), Katelyn Duber (33rd, women's triple jump), and Brady Reusser (28th, men's discus).

Overall, the weekend reflected both high-end excellence and program-wide growth. With 76 PRs, a team victory on the women's side at Beloit, multiple records, and national rankings climbing, the Pioneers continue to build momentum early in the outdoor season. The teams' next opportunity comes this Saturday the 18th as the Pioneers will have another split weekend with Augustana and Wisconsin Lutheran meets next on the slate.
