DE PERE, Wis. — The Carroll University men's and women's track & field teams put together a strong all-around showing Saturday at the St. Norbert College Invitational, with contributions across sprints, hurdles, distance, relays, and field events.
Women's Team Results
The Carroll women finished fifth overall with 79.83 points, highlighted by several event wins, national marks, and depth across multiple disciplines.
On the track, Carroll picked up points in the short sprints and quarter-mile events. Katilyn Gregory placed ninth in the 100 meters, while Avery Wolf, Bella Backus, Chloe Swenson, and Erika Houston Johnson also competed. In the 200 meters, Margaret Carter scored with a seventh-place finish, joined by Wolf, Gregory, Addison Korte, and Blyss McCune. Rianna Schultz delivered a third-place finish in the 400 meters, with additional efforts from Kailey Wozniak, Ashley Wojciechowski, and Isabel Asumendi.
Carroll was especially strong in the hurdles. Tirzah Losos placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles before finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles, while Katelyn Duber, Gwen Breckheimer, Ashley Wojciechowski, and Addisyn Tauferner all competed across the hurdle events.
In the middle distances, Hana Smith and Kyla Laabs earned points in the 800 meters, with Brooke Davies, Lucy Beuthin, and Mei-Lin Sicinski also racing. Carroll placed multiple runners in the 1,500 meters, led by Amelia Stein, Norah Yang, Rebecca Barnes, Kayla Hirschmann, Nina Yaras, and Mia Kim.
The relays were a highlight for Carroll. The 4x100 relay of Aimee Koranteng, Addison Weber, Margaret Carter, and Avery Wolf placed second, while the 4x400 relay of Rianna Schultz, Addison Korte, Jenna Weis, and Hana Smith claimed first place, producing a season-best time that currently ranks 76th nationally.
In the field events, Carroll made a major impact. Jenna Weis won the pole vault, clearing 3.90 meters and recording a new NCAA Division III No. 10 mark, while Ella Ott, Alexandria Ostopowicz, Bella Backus, Gwen Breckheimer, and Alanna Schuett also scored. Clare Whitney tied for second in the high jump, with Wojciechowski and Tauferner adding points. Katelyn Duber captured a win in the triple jump, with Weber also scoring, while Weber and Carter both added points in the long jump. In the throws, Alexandra Sahlin Cloutier led Carroll in the javelin.
Men's Team Results
The Carroll men finished sixth overall with 42 points, showing depth across sprints, hurdles, distance, relays, and jumps.
In the sprints, Denim Riley placed third in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, scoring points in each event. Jerome Sassoe added a point in the 100 meters, while Victor Wiszniewski scored in the 200. In the 400 meters, Connor Tector led Carroll with a seventh-place finish, joined by Patrick Signore, Matthew Konieczny, Wiszniewski, and Ben Breitbach.
Carroll earned additional points in the hurdles, with Jared Kniola placing seventh in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, while Eber Lopez added points in the 400-meter hurdles as well.
In the distance events, Ethan Weber scored in the 800 meters, followed by Cameron Lotspeich, Sawyer Caves, and Luke Adams. Donovan Menningen competed in the 1,500 meters, and Bailey Olson earned a point with an eighth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The 4x400 relay delivered valuable points for Carroll, as the 'A' squad of Sawyer Caves, Ethan Weber, Luke Adams, and Connor Tector placed second, while a second Carroll relay also competed.
In the field, Carlos Cadet highlighted the jumps with a second-place finish in the triple jump, while Ethan Zilisch and Breitbach both scored in the long jump.
All in all, it was another successful meet for the Pioneers as many more personal marks were shattered as well. They now turn their attention to the CCIW Outdoor Championships which take place next Friday and Saturday in Kenosha, WI hosted by Carthage.
