Box Score Harland, Wis. – The Carroll University women's tennis team began their 2021 campaign against Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday night. The Pioneers handled the Warriors, 9-0.
 
In doubles, Grace Krueger and Madison Ostrander only dropped two sets, winning 8-2 against the number one pairing. Maya Gaedtke and Carolyn Merkatoris followed suit, winning by an 8-2 decision. Rachel Papp and Francesca Grimes faced tougher competitors, but came away victorious, 8-7.
 
In singles, returning first team-all conference Krueger took care of business, defeating the number one single for the Warriors 6-2, 6-2. Ostrander, the freshman, only dropped one set in her first collegiate match, winning 6-1, 6-0. Gaedtke won her first set 6-0, and but had to fight a little harder to get the victory, winning 6-4 in the second set. Lora Leach won in straight sets 6-4, 6-0, and Papp defeated the sixth seed 6-3, 6-3.
 
The women will face off against the Falcons of Concordia Wisconsin on Sunday.
