Waukesha, Wis. – The Carroll University women's tennis team played for a second-straight day against a CCIW opponent. Today, the Pioneers got back into the win column with a deceive victory over Illinois Wesleyan by a score of 7-2.
In doubles, the pairing of
Grace Krueger and
Madison Ostrander suffered their first defeat of the season by a score of 4-8. The other two pairings of
Maya Gaedtke &
Lora Leach, and
Carolyn Merkatoris &
Rachel Papp won their matchups by scores of 8-1.
In singles, five of six Pioneers handled business, winning in straight sets. Gaedtke had to fight for her victories, extending to 7-5 and 7-6 wins. Ostrander struggled in the number two spot, falling 3-6, 0-6. Krueger (6-2, 6-2), Leach (6-1, 6-2), Merkatoris (6-4, 6-0), and Papp (6-1, 6-2) all won convincingly.
The Pioneers will reconvene next weekend in an away match at Elmhurst and another home match against the Vikings of North Park.
