Pioneers finish 1-2 at Mary Scribner Invitational

Carroll earns second victory of season to begin second day of competition

WHEATON, Ill. - The Carroll University women's volleyball team posted a 1-2 record at the two-day Mary Scribner Invitational (hosted by Wheaton College) at King Arena on Saturday.
Carroll defeated Benedictine 25-27, 25-10, 25-16, 25-14 in its opening dual and lost in five sets to Wisconsin Lutheran College 28-26, 25-19, 12-25, 23-25, 15-10 to close out the competition.
Peyton Frost combined for a team-high 27 kills in the competition for the Pioneers, who are currently 2-9 overall.

DUAL 1
Peyton Frost registered a team-high 16 kills to lead the Pioneers versus Benedictine. 
Katie Jensen followed with 11 kills, seven digs and four blocks for Carroll, which overcame an early one-set deficit and showcased their poise and resilience by claiming the final three sets.
Cathleen Flannery contributed eight kills, 17 digs and five service aces for Carroll, which finished with 44 kills, 58 digs, 42 assists, 14 aces and 13 blocks.
Sofia Camacho had seven blocks, Kloe Longtin collected 19 digs and Isabela Valdez added 38 assists.
Brooke Huizenga finished with 12 kills for Benedictine.

DUAL 2
Flannery contributed 12 kills and 11 digs while Frost followed with 11 kills for Carroll, which suffered its third five-set loss of the season.
The Pioneers rebounded from a two-set deficit and answered with back-to-back victories before falling 15-10 in the decisive fifth set.
Jensen finished with 10 kills, Longtin had 15 digs and Valdez added 34 assists.
Jenna Charron had 16 kills for Wisconsin Lutheran.
