WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's tennis team defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College 7-2 in a nonconference dual meet at the Jean Kilgour Trailblazer Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the third dual-meet victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 3-4 overall with the dominant home-court effort.
The Pioneers, who have won two of their last three duals, captured 4 of 6 singles matches and swept the doubles category.
Ashley LaBelle won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to lead Carroll, defeating Wisconsin's Lutheran's Jena Smith 6-2, 6-0.
Maya Gaedtke at No. 2,
Madison Ostrander at No. 3 and
Carolyn Merkatoris at No. 4 each followed with a straight-set victory.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of LaBelle and
Sophia Dekker won 8-1 for Carroll.
Ostrander and Gaedtke combined for a victory at No. 2 with
Rachel Papp and
Francesca Grimes adding a victory at No. 3 doubles.
