Peyton Frost finished with a team-high 13 kills as the Carroll University women's volleyball team defeated St. Mary's University (Minn.) 25-23, 25-17, 21-25, 21-25, 15-12 in a gritty, five-set dual to open the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse on Friday night.
It was the first five-set victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 3-10 overall with the inspired road performance.
Ashley Konecki followed with 12 kills and four blocks for the Pioneers, who led 13-12 in the decisive fifth set and sealed a victory as the result of a kill by
Cathleen Flannery and a St. Mary's error.
Sofia Camacho contributed 12 kills and three blocks for Carroll, which generated 75 points on 60 kills, eight service aces, seven blocks, 82 digs and 56 assists.
Kloe Longtin collected 20 digs and two aces with
Emily Schliesman adding 14 digs and 28 assists.
